2011 was a hectic year for cosplay for me. There were good times and bad, so I've kind of summed it all up in this End of the Year meme!
Costumes: (from left to right)
Red Scout from Team Fortress 2, Lucy/Nyu from Elfen Lied, Gangster Leon from Resident Evil 4, Ameriko from Hetalia, SS Prussia from Hetalia, and Chess America from a Hetalia fanart
Fanime (first time!), Anime Expo, Animeland Makiba, and Anime Vegas
Chess America, because the fucking details, I actually had to hot glue all the biased tape on there because I was running out of time
Red Scout, because most of his clothing pieces were easily found (except the hat, but it was really easy to modify, and the bad, which I made). And, I had the easiest prop I ever made too, the Holy Mackeral (a fish wrapped in newspaper for non-TF2 people).
Chess America, ugh, just the end result of my procrastination made me absolutely hate this costume. It was a last minute job, so I did a bunch of things to this costume that I didn't enjoy doing just to finish it (like the hot glue). I've only worn it once, because I'm remaking it for Anime Los Angeles 2012.
SS Prussia, because I will always love SS uniforms! (not a Nazi, just sayin') And, the craftsmanship isn't too shabby! I actually won Best Craftsmanship at Animeland Makiba with it!
SS Prussia, 'cause I love wearing that uniform....
Gangster Leon, it was for Halloween, and I bought the suit at the Swapmeet for $120.
Red Scout, again, most of the outfit was either readily available or easy to modify.
Best cosplay memory of the year:
Winning the Director’s Choice Award with Lucy at AnimeVegas. Oh man, and I thought I was happy with winning the award from Animeland, this one really took the cake for several reasons. For one, my outfit wasn't the one that was originally planned. I at first wanted to go as Chess America, but I couldn't get it done so Lucy was the only thing I had that I didn't get to wear to a con yet. Second, my skit was planned rather last minute (it was me singing Lilium, the show's opening theme), but even though I wasn't at my best people still seemed to love it, so that really made me happy. I wasn't really expecting to win anything with my simple outfit, so it was really surprising when I found out I won the award!
So, that was my cosplay year in a nutshell. I hope I have better pictures next year!
